NY Giants ‘most persistent’ in signing veteran WR but it’s not Odell Beckham Jr.

For weeks now, New York Giants fans have been holding out hope that a reunion could go down between Odell Beckham Jr. and the G-Men. While that door isn’t completely shut just yet, it looks like the Giants are showing strong interest in a different wideout. How would fans feel about Cole Beasley making his way to East Rutherford?

According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the Giants have been showing strong interest in trying to land Beasley. They’re not alone, though, as the Commanders and Panthers have also tried to ink him.

With Beasley, he made his debut with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3, but he’s headed back to the practice squad. This means a team could sign him off of it. Will it end up being NY?

NY Giants could potentially end up signing Cole Beasley

"“The Giants have been the most persistent, we’re told,” Florio reported. “But the offers have been at or near the league minimum. Beasley, who has earned nearly $50 million in his career, doesn’t need to play for whatever he can get.So he waited. And now an opportunity has arisen in Tampa, where he can play and contribute and work with a great quarterback and possibly win a Super Bowl.If he stays. Although he’s on the practice squad, Beasley can sign with any other team — except the next opponent of the Buccaneers in any given week. If/when a team like the Giants sufficiently sweetens the pot, Beasley could choose to sign there.”"

Beasley is a gamer and has made plenty of big-time plays over his career. However, is he really going to be the kind of player to help open the field for Daniel Jones and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka? From our chair, this isn’t the kind of signing that would make a ton of sense, but general manager Joe Schoen may think otherwise.

Beasley spent the first seven years of his career with the Cowboys before suiting up with the Buffalo Bills for three campaigns. He was just signed by the Bucs and caught three passes in the loss on Sunday to the Packers.

The 5-8, 175-pounder will reportedly now weigh his options and decide what’s best for him the rest of the campaign. You never know, a move to the Giants could go down if the team ends up making him the right offer.
