Unfortunately, it’s looking like the 2022 season may be over for NY Giants wideout Sterling Shepard. To make the Monday Night Football loss to the Dallas Cowboys even worse, Shepard went down with an injury on the play where Daniel Jones was intercepted by Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs late in the action.

It was a non-contact injury for Shepard, who was just running down the field, but he appeared to step akwardly on the turf. He immediately went down in an unreal amount of pain and had to be carted off the field. According to insider Jordan Schultz, the team is expecting this to be a campaign-ending injury for Shepard. Fans are devastated and rightfully so.

NY Giants WR Sterling Shepard is out for the year with his knee injury

The Giants locker room was deflated when talking about Shepard’s injury. There’s a reason players from both the G-Men and Cowboys surrounded the cart and showed No. 3 so much support: he’s one of the most respected guys in the league and is loved by just about everyone.

That scene was tough to watch for Shepard, as he worked his tail off to come back from his torn Achilles. Running back Saquon Barkley couldn’t believe this happened to his teammate and close friend.

Shepard restructured his deal to return to MetLife Stadium and play at least one more season with the squad. Now, though, it’s very much looking like the Monday Night Football loss is going to be the final game we see of the fan-favorite wideout suiting up for Big Blue.

This sucks, plain and simple, as Shepard has meant so much to the organization over the years. While the team has been through some lean seasons of late, Shepard has always busted his hump to try and bring his best in each practice and game. You can call plenty of wideouts a ‘diva’ but that was never the case with Shep.

From the moment he arrived to East Rutherford in 2016, the 5-10, 200-pounder has been a treat to watch. If this really is the end of the road for him with the Giants, which is expected to be the case, Shepard would finish his time with NY with 362 receptions for 4,038 yards and 22 touchdowns.
