3. Evan Neal must start acting like a No. 7 overall pick
Poor doesn’t even begin to describe the play of Evan Neal going up against the Dallas Cowboys. He allowed five QB pressures, and three sacks. Demarcus Lawrence had his way with Neal and there was simply no stopping the Dallas pass-rusher. Neal couldn’t keep it together throughout and it was disappointing to see.
Through the first three games of the year, Neal has allowed four sacks and fans haven’t been happy with how he’s looked. When the Giants took him with the No. 7 overall pick, the hope was that he and Andrew Thomas would be able to keep Jones upright with consistency throughout the ’22 season.
Thomas has done his part, as he’s playing like one of the best tackles in the game. The same surely can’t be said about Neal, who very much is looking like a rookie out there. It’s still early in his career and Neal has the potential to get things right. In order for the Giants to take down Dallas come Turkey Day, Neal has to do a 180 in terms of performance vs. the Dallas pass-rushers.
