3. Daniel Bellinger making noise
In each week, rookie tight end Daniel Bellinger has managed to make his presence felt more and more. During Week 1, Bellinger played in just 48 percent of the snaps. He finished the day with zero targets but still seemed to be a potential option in the offense.
In Week 2, Bellinger played in 58 percent of the snaps. This was a significant increase from the week prior, and Bellinger didn’t make the Giants regret their decision to give him more playing time. He took his lone reception 16 yards to the house for his first career touchdown.
While Bellinger did not reach the end zone again in Week 3, he received the most attention of his short career. He was targeted five times by Jones, bringing in four receptions for 40 receiving yards.
He was used heavily in the offense, especially in run-pass-options. On these designed RPOs Bellinger was the checkdown for the offense. And when he got the ball in his hands, he was sure to gain some yards.
This was the sort of performance that the Giants were looking for when they added Bellinger in the fourth round of the 20222 NFL Draft.
