Will former star NY Giants safety Landon Collins make his way home to East Rutherford? A 2015 second-round pick in 2015, Collins was a baller for the G-Men, making his way to three Pro Bowls and earning a First-Team All-Pro honor.
With New York hosting Collins for a visit on Monday, fans just about everywhere are hoping that general manager Joe Schoen gets something done with the 6-0, 218-pounder. Collins’ exit from New York after four seasons didn’t go too peachy, as he and former GM Dave Gettleman didn’t see eye to eye.
If anything, remembering Collins’ previous comments will only have people in NY wanting the Giants to bring him back even more, as Gettleman is hated by countless supporters.
Landon Collins has a history of bashing former Giants GM Dave Gettleman
If you think you have an issue with Gettleman – well, let’s just say Collins despises him just a bit more. Collins hated the guy and he couldn’t wait to leave the team following the 2018 season. Collins ended up making his way to Washington, spending three seasons with the Giants’ NFC East rivals.
Despite not leaving the G-Men on happy terms, with his problems with Gettleman being No. 1 on the list, Collins was a bonafide stud suiting up for the MetLife Stadium side. Collins lived up to the hype of being a second-round selection out of Alabama, posting 437 tackles and eight interceptions in his four seasons with the squad.
Now, with the Giants needing some depth at safety, signing Collins this week very well could end up going down. What makes him such an intriguing option too is that Collins could play a hybrid role, also making plays at linebacker for defensive coordinator Wink Martindale. Wink would no doubt get the best out of Collins.
Schoen would easily have a much better relationship with No. 21 too if a deal gets done. This would also allow for Collins to end his time with the Giants the right away. Fans are keeping their fingers crossed a contract is agreed upon sooner than later. Getting Collins back in Big Blue would be special to see.
