With the NY Giants sitting at 3-1 on the campaign thus far, it seems as if we are finally seeing some success from the team for the first time since 2016. While this may not amount to a potential playoff run, it is still nice to see some early success from a clearly rebuilding squad.

This success seen by the NY Giants would likely not be possible without help from some of the rookies the team drafted this year. Which begs the question, how have the NY Giants rookies held up so far ? Here is a review of the NY Giants rookies a quarter of the way through the 2022 NFL season

EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux (Round 1, Pick No. 5 overall)

Coming out of the 2022 NFL Draft, Kayvon Thibodeaux was seen as a can’t miss prospect, as early on in his college career, people assumed he’d be the No. 1 pick down the road. While the sudden rise of Aidan Hutchinson and Travon Walker caused Thibodeaux to fall to the NY Giants at fifth overall, this does not mean he will not be the best out of the three.

So far in the 2022 season, Thibodeaux has only appeared in two games due to an MCL sprain he suffered during the preseason. Despite hit lack of stats, you can’t say that Thibodeaux has not been making an impact.

Despite not making much of an impact during his NFL debut against the Cowboys, it was his first professional game and he was coming off of an injury, so he gets a bit of a pass. However, his performance against the Bears was very promising. He racked up three combined tackles, four pressures, which was good enough for second on the team behind Dexter Lawrence. He also added a fumble recovery.

In all honesty, there are very few reasons to be worried about Thibodeaux’s abilities. We all know what he is capable of, and he has shown that off. Entering this week’s matchup against the Green Bay Packers, Thibodeaux will be matched up against a much better offensive line. Despite this, I believe there is a very good chance we see Thibodeaux get his first career sack on Aaron Rodgers.
