Talk about a move to get people even more fired up leading up to the London showdown. On Thursday, the New York Giants made quite the splash, signing safety Landon Collins to the practice squad, with the likely expectation he will be promoted to the active roster shortly.

Collins, a man who needs no introduction to the Big Blue faithful, had a memorable four seasons with the G-Men after being drafted with the first pick in the 2015 NFL Draft’s second round. Collins was a First-Team All-Pro player in 2016, while also being a Pro-Bowler from 2016-2018.

Giants fans were outraged when Collins spurned the franchise and signed with Washington in 2019, but boy are we happy to have him back. This signing is the perfect move for both Collins and the Giants.

While the Giants safety position, compromised mostly of Xavier McKinney, Dane Belton and Julian Love, has preformed adequately to start the season, the Giants linebackers have left a lot to be desired. Collins can help fill that void. Despite being a safety by trade, Collins has spent more time in the box than outside the box recently and he could play a hybrid role for this team moving forward.

NY Giants fans are thrilled the team has signed Landon Collins

Joe Schoen loves players who have significant versatility, and with his experience at safety and linebacker, Wink Martindale can use Collins as a defensive weapon all over the field.

Collins has traveled to London to be with the Giants this weekend, so there is a chance we see him active for the game. The last time the Giants played in London, Collins made the play of his career, and a produced a touchdown Giants fans will never forget.

Could the NY Giants’ next move be signing Odell Beckham Jr?

After signing Collins, you know Giants fans will be clamoring to bring back another franchise icon in Odell Beckham Jr. OBJ was recently in the Giants building to visit Sterling Shepard, and with the scary state of the Giants wide receiver core, the Giants could certainly use Odell in November after he is fully recovered from his ACL tear.

One thing is clear, Schoen is interested in doing whatever it takes to help the Giants win, and bringing back franchise icons would not only help the team get the job done on the field, but also keep the NY fans fired up too.
