The NY Giants travel across the pond this week to face the 3-1 Packers who are coming off three consecutive wins. Winning this game will be no easy task. However, the NY Giants are no stranger to underdog victories.
Despite this, it will take a lot for the NY Giants to pull out the W, as the team is entering this week facing a multitude of injuries. When you combine this with the struggles the team has had even when healthy, it makes things even more complicated.
If the Giants want a chance to win this game, a lot of players are going to have to step up into roles of which they may not be used to. With that being said, here are four ways the NY Giants can stun the Packers in London this Sunday.
4. Improved offensive line play
One of the scariest aspects of this Green Bay Packers team is their defensive line/pass-rush. They have several stars on that front, such as Preston Smith, Kenny Clark and Rashan Gary. If the NY Giants even want a chance to win this game, they must find a way to contain these three, as they alone can shut down this Giants offense.
Last week against the Bears, the NY Giants offensive line played arguably their best football this season, giving Saquon Barkley incredible lanes to run through. However, this was also against an extremely weak Chicago Bears defensive line: the same team that allowed Packers running backs Aaron Jones and A.J Dillon to run for 193 yards combined.
This Packers defensive front is no joke at all. While the NY Giants have had success against good fronts, such as the Panthers, the Packers are a different beast. Between Gary, Clark, and Smith, these players have 9.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, and 17 QB hits in four games. There is no doubt that this NY Giants offensive line will have their hands full this week. If they want a chance to win this game, the line will have to step up in a big way.
We all know the NY Giants can constantly rely on Andrew Thomas, who was recently crowned the highest graded player in the NFL according to PFF. However, players like John Feliciano, Mark Glowinski, and Evan Neal, have been more questionable and they’ll need to rise to the task.
