Daniel Jones and the New York Giants currently sit at 4-1 and are off to their best start in recent history. With their Week 5 win over Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, they have already matched their win total from last year.

At the moment, this team shows no signs of slowing down. With wins over the Tennessee Titans, Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers, and now Packers, the Giants have beaten four teams with various amounts of success. The lone loss came to the Dallas Cowboys in a game that could have gone either way.

In Week 7, the Giants will be taking on a Baltimore Ravens team that has been among the best in the NFL. And it will be a true test to show where this team is currently at in their rebuild. If all goes to plan, the Giants could finish the day atop the NFC East. If they earn the top spot, they may not look back.

The Giants have proven they can win hard games. With each victory, expectations will continue to rise. If they can continue to produce as they have, they could win the NFC East. Here’s four reasons the G-Men could finish No. 1 in the division by season’s end.

4. The defense can become great

Through the first five games of the season, the Giants defense has allowed 91 total points. The defense has proven that on several occasions. After limiting a struggling Bears offense to just 12 points in Week 4, they put on an even more impressive performance in Week 5. Rodgers was limited to just 222 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Even when the secondary lost Adoree’ Jackson, players stepped up. Rodgers finished the day with just three completions more than 15 yards down the field on eight attempts. The defense put the Packers offense into a position where they couldn’t push the ball down the field.

This Giants defense has allowed a total of seven touchdowns so far, with just one coming on the ground. Defensive coordinator Wink Martindale has put together a unit that can seemingly compete with anyone. They blitz early and often, and they disrupt opposing offenses.

What the Giants are doing is working. It appears to be sustainable. If they can keep it up, this defense could take this team far.
