Julian Love knows how dangerous Lamar Jackson can be vs. the NY Giants
A week after facing Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, things aren’t getting any easier for the New York Giants and defensive coordinator Wink Martinale. Come Sunday afternoon, Lamar Jackson, inarguably one of the top talents in the NFL, will make his way to MetLife Stadium hoping to power the Baltimore Ravens to a win.
Jackson is a total beast with the ball in his hands, as he can hurt you either with his strong right arm, or his head-turning wheels. NY Giants safety Julian Loves knows just how good Jackson can be. On top of that, Love knows the G-Men are going to have their hands full trying to slow down the elite QB this weekend.
NY Giants S Julian Love calls Lamar Jackson the best QB in the game
"“It’s going to be a tremendous challenge for the defense,” Love said this week on Jackson. “We’re going to try to attack them the best we can, but in my eyes, he’s the best quarterback in the league. It’s going to take all of us to account for him and they have some serious weapons around him. It’s going to be a big matchup. it’s going to be a big game for us to be intentional about how we approach it.”"
Martindale is quite familiar with Jackson, as the new NY DC made his way to East Rutherford after leading the Baltimore defense. Martindale always had a front-row seat in practice and at games for the Jackson show. It’ll be on him, Love and the rest of the Giants defense to figure out a way to prevent Jackson from blowing up.
The good news is that Leonard Williams and Azeez Ojulari are back at practice and the hope is that the two stud defenders will be ready to play in Week 6. Their returns would be massive, as Jackson has thrown for 1,067 yards and 12 touchdowns this campaign, while adding 373 yards and two more scores on the ground.
Look for Love, Adoree’ Jackson, Xavier McKinney and others in the secondary to do their part going up against Jackson as well. It won’t be easy, but these guys have proven time and time again they’re ready to attack any tough challenge head on.
