Trading NY Giants WR Kadarius Toney would be a huge mistake from Joe Schoen
With the NFL trade deadline about two weeks away, we’re seeing more and more reports come up regarding different big names across the league. This continues for NY Giants running back Saquon Barkley, but come on, the stud playmaker isn’t going anywhere. The same can’t be said for wideout Kadarius Toney.
The former first-round pick has missed most of the season due to a hamstring injury. There were trade rumors during the offseason, but he appeared to be on the same page as the new regime entering the new campaign. Now, journalist Michael Balko has been told that the G-Men could look to ship the speedster to a new team. Oh my.

NY Giants shouldn’t give up on Kadarius Toney just yet
There’s mixed emotions here from NY fans. On one side of things, Toney just hasn’t worked out with this team. He was a first-rounder in the 2021 NFL Draft and had loads of potential from the moment he made his way to East Rutherford from the University of Florida. However, injuries have plagued him since last season.
There’s been plenty of drama too, which included him throwing a punch in the loss to the Cowboys last fall. He didn’t get suspended, but landed himself a pretty big fine. Toney played in 10 games for Big Blue in ’21, hauling in 39 balls for 420 yards. No one has forgotten about his 189-yard showing vs. Dallas.
Other than that performance vs. the Cowboys, there haven’t been too many head-turning showings from Toney. This is why some fans indeed are fine with the thought of trading him for a late-round pick. However, call us crazy, but we don’t want to see Toney sent to a new organization just yet.
When healthy, this kid has proven that he has what it takes to stretch the field and be a key option for the NFC East side. He’s been limited this year due to injuries and Brian Daboll’s use of him, but when he’s been on the field, he’s showcased his big-play potential. We saw that, although sparingly, against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1.
With his speed and hands, Toney truly does have an unreal amount of potential for the Giants. He’s just got to stay healthy and build a bond with Daniel Jones and Daboll. If he can do this, then he’ll be an extra weapon for Danny Dimes and the 5-1 Giants. Toney very well could end up being traded before the end of the month, but we don’t want to see it happen.
