3. Carolina Panthers DT Matt Ioannidis

The Giants have invested heavily in their defensive front in recent seasons. Leonard Williams, Azeez Ojulari, and Dexter Lawrence all came up big last season. With the addition of Kayvon Thibodeaux, this group was finally meant to be complete. But injuries have derailed the Giants plans with this group.

The unit of Williams, Ojulari, Thibodeaux, and Lawrence is yet to take the field together this season. And they won’t for the foreseeable future with Ojulari landing on Injured Reserve.

In the absence of key players, Jihad Ward has emerged as a solid option, but there is a clear lack of depth past him. To address this, the Giants could look to make a move before the deadline. The Carolina Panthers could have the sort of player that they are looking for in Matt Ioannidis.

Ioannidis signed a one-year deal with the Panthers in the offseason. In his short time with the team, he has played well, recording 15 total tackles, two tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, and one sack in six games.

Throughout his career, Ioannidis has spent time at both defensive end and defensive tackle. The flexibility that he brings could allow for the Giants to address the defeisne line as a whole.

With Ioannidis on a one-year contract, this is a move that would only benefit the Giants in the short term. However, if they are committed to winning now, it is the sort of deal that could take them over the top once everyone is healthy.
