3. Seahawks may be without DK Metcalf this Sunday

Will DK Metcalf be able to suit up for this one? Metcalf is dealing with a patellar tendon issue, so there is reasonable doubt that he plays. Pete Carroll said that he’s a game-time decision for the Week 8 matchup, but it’d be a surprise if he were to suit up.

If Metcalf is unable to go, the NY Giants must take advantage of it, as outside of Metcalf, the only other noteworthy receivers on the Seahawks are Tyler Lockett and Marquise Goodwin. Lockett is also dealing with an injury and won’t be at 100 percent.

Goodwin has given the Giants issues in the past, however, he is far out of his prime and should hopefully be contained by the Giants defense. Lockett on the other hand has been solid, but nothing spectacular against the Giants in past seasons.

The secondary of the NY Giants has been great all season, ranking 18th in passing yards allowed and 21st in passing TDs allowed. Considering all of the injuries the secondary has dealt with, this is rather surprising.

With the way Smith has been playing all season, it may be difficult for the Giants to slow down the Seahawks passing game, but if the secondary keeps up this great level of play, we could see a dominant performance from the defense.

Update: Adam Schefter is now reporting that Metcalf is expected to play in this game, though he’ll certainly be at less than full health going up against the Giants.
