Jerry Jeudy won’t be enough to fix this anemic NY Giants offense

Other than a handful of strong plays, including the forced fumble by Adoree’ Jackson, it’s hard to come up with many positives for the NY Giants from their sobering loss to the Seahawks. The defense struggled late, while the offense only scored one touchdown on the day and had to settle for two Grahan Gano field goals.

With the NFL trade deadline now almost here, fans appear to be split on what Joe Schoen should do. On one side of things, people are calling for Schoen to trade some draft capital to bring in Denver Broncos wideout Jerry Jeudy. Yes, he’d be a fun addition.

However, the loss to the Seahawks showcased to us that bringing in a star wideout won’t be enough for this NY offense. They need several more players to come in, but due to the salary cap issues, that won’t be possible. So, will Schoen stand pat and just see what his current roster is made of, or will he end up taking a gamble and going after someone like Jeudy?

NY Giants may not make any big moves before the trade deadline

This really is a tough decision and we don’t envy Schoen for having to make these kinds of calls. Jeudy is explosive and the G-Men have ‘particular interest’ in him. We all saw how good he can be in Week 8, as he was making plays for Russell Wilson and Nathaniel Hackett.

The thing about this Giants offense is that it’s simply too inconsistent and one guy coming to town to step up for Daniel Jones (tossed for a lowly 176 yards vs. Seattle) isn’t going to change things overnight. It would most definitely help the G-Men compete, but when you have players Marcus Johnson and Richie James still seeing extended playing time, it shows just how behind the unit is compared to others around the league.

Getting Kenny Golladay back to full health will be huge for Jones and Co., and the hope is that he can finally start to contribute in 2022. All signs are pointing to him getting back on the field for the Week 10 matchup with the Texans.

His return will be good news for the offense. As for Jeudy, since the asking price may be too steep, perhaps it’ll be wise for Schoen to stay away this time around. We’ll find out come Tuesday afternoon whether or not the NY GM agrees with us or not.
