2. Linebacker Jihad Ward

One of the more underated signings this summer for the Giants was bringing in pass-rusher Jihad Ward. A veteran presence is always wanted in an organization, but for them to also be an impact player on the field is a bonus. That’s been the case with Ward.

Ward has been pretty strong against the run for the Giants and he is beginning to get some recognition for the role he plays on the Giants defense. The 28-year-old playmaker has been strong in the run game.

Ward’s ability to stop the run will be vital for the Giants defensive front seven to eliminate the rushing threat of Texans running back Dameon Pierce, who is emerging to be an Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate. Pierce has been an animal running the ball for Houston.

Ward is someone who is still an underrated player for the Giants defense, and with the run of games that Azeez Ojulari and Leonard Williams have both missed over the course of the season, he has done well to step up in their replacement. He’ll have plenty of eyes on him in Week 10 as well.
