1. Wink Martdinale

Martdinale’s first year with Big Blue has been memorable. Head man Brian Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka have gotten a lot of praise and rightfully so. However, Martindale has transformed this defensive unit and he has his guys flying all over the field. Martindale knows how to make key adjustments, which will be needed now that McKinney isn’t able to play.

With how smart he is, Martdinale will cook up the right packages to best fit the guys he has available. He’s still going to hit opposing offenses with plenty of pressure – that’s not going to change. If anything, Martdinale sees this as a small bump in the road, and one he knows his guys can drive through.

"“I think there will be an effect,” Martdinale said when discussing McKinney’s injury. “It could be a good effect or a bad effect. We’re going to find that out. I always talk to the defensive guys about (how) we control the narrative of every situation. There’s the situations, series of events, if you will, during a game that you’ve got to handle. I think we’ve done a good job of that so far, for the most part. It’s just another injury that we’re going to have to deal with and get ready to go play the Texans.”"

Despite the Texans holding a 1-6-1 record, Martindale, Daboll and Kafka know they can’t overlook this team. Not having McKinney available is going to complicate life a little bit, but that’s not going to be used as an excuse by Martindale. The DC is going to have his men ready to rock, that’s for sure.
