Once again, it wasn’t pretty from start to finish, but the NY Giants made the necessary plays to improve to 7-2 on the year. The Giants are used to playing close games and that was once again the case in the 24-16 win over the Houston Texans at MetLife Stadium.

There’s plenty of room to improve for this team, but Brian Daboll and Co. won’t complain about coming out on top against a stingy Houston squad. In this piece, we have our four takeaways from the action, including something fans have been wanting for quite some time.

4. Finally a strong start on offense for the Giants

What, an opening-drive touchdown for the G-Men? That’s exactly what went down on Sunday vs. the Texans, as Big Blue went on a 10-play, 68-yard drive to kick things off. Things were highlighted by a 36-yard pass from Daniel Jones to Darius Slayton, and the drive ended with a touchdown pass from Danny Dimes to Lawrence Cager.

It goes without saying, but slow starts on offense have been a nightmare for this team throughout the year. It has been quite frustrating to see, with the NY supporters calling out Mike Kafka quite a bit for his lack of execution. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case in Week 10, as the Giants started the game off with a bang.

The rest of the first half didn’t go as planned, though, as the offense couldn’t do much of anything ahead of the halftime break. However, Jones found Slayton for a 54-yard score to open the second half, which had everyone at MetLife fired up. We’d love to see more opening-drive scores from this team moving forward.
