3 missed calls by the refs that cost the NY Giants vs. Dallas
By Zak Musso
It was a disappointing Thanksgiving for New York. After we all enjoyed a beautiful meal featuring turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and more, we settled in to watch some New York Giants football, only to watch a 60-minute ref show.
With so many bodies out, all the injuries were too much to overcome against a talented Dallas team. However, we cannot discount how poorly this game was officiated. The refs issued an astounding 21 penalties on Thursday, and completely destroyed the flow of the game. Three of those calls that were in favor of Dallas completely changed the course of the contest.
While the Giants could have played much better on Thursday, especially Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, it is unacceptable how big of a factor the officials played in the game’s outcome. Here are three garbage calls by the refs that robbed the NY Giants vs. the Cowboys.
3. The Isaiah Hodgins TD called back
This one is going to be talked about for a while. In the first quarter, Jones was able to hit Isaiah Hodgins for what looked to be a long touchdown. It was supposed to be a moment that the young wideout was going to remember forever. Instead, Tyre Phillips was called for an ineligible man downfield flag. Yeah, it was bogus.
That’s a questionable decision at best. Brian Daboll was furious with the laundry and no one can blame him for that. This wiped off six points for the G-Men and they had to settle for a Graham Gano field goal shortly after. On this same drive, the refs were also a mess on different plays, which was frustrating.
With the Giants missing so many players on offense, and featuring one of the worst WR units in all of football, it’s inexcusable for the guys in stripes to cost Big Blue like this. Daboll ripped into the side judge after said call. He’s probably still fuming over it.
