3 NY Giants return from Injured Reserve and it’s massive for Brian Daboll
Let’s hope this stops the bleeding a bit. The NY Giants, once 6-1 on the year, have now lost three of their last four contests. They’re at 7-4, hanging on to one of the NFC Wild Card spots, though the Seattle Seahawks and others would love to make sure they watch the postseason from home. Luckily for Brian Daboll, this squad is starting to get healthier.
On Monday morning, it was announced that pass-rusher Azeez Ojulari, safety Tony Jefferson and offensive lineman Ben Bredeson have all been activated off Injured Reserve. They’ll hit the practice field and look to get themselves ready for the highly-anticipated showdown vs. Washington on Sunday at MetLife.
Azeez Ojulari coming back is a huge return for the New York Giants
It goes without saying, but the Ojulari news is the headliner here. The Big Blue pass-rush has struggled to put consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks at times. With that said, we can’t take anything away from Kayvon Thibodeaux and Dexter Lawrence, as they’ve been rockstars with Ojulari injured.
Now, adding Ojulari into the mix is going to be key for defensive coordinator Wink Martindale. Last season, Ojulari was one of the few bright spots for the Giants, posting a rookie-record eight sacks for NY.
He was eyeing double-digit sacks for this campaign, but injuries have gotten in the way of that. Look for Ojulari to get back on track vs. Washington. Don’t sleep on Jefferson and Bredeson returning either. With Bredeson in particular, he’ll provide this offensive line with much-needed help.
We saw how much the unit struggled against Dallas, but they’ll be focused on having a strong showing at home against Washington. We can only hope more positive injury news will be on the way sooner than later on other key guys as well.
