4 studs and duds from the NY Giants loss to the Dallas Cowboys

2. Dud – RB Saquon Barkley
Unfortunately for Saquon Barkley, Week 12 served as a game that the star running back may like to forget. With nearly the entire Giants offensive line out of the game with an injury, Barkley was forced to try and make the best out of a bad situation.
He finished the day with one of his worst showings of the season. In total, he rushed for 39 yards and one touchdown on 11 total carries. His 3.5 yards per carry was his third-lowest of the season. Through the air, he added four receptions for 13 receiving yards.
If not for his touchdown in the second quarter, this outing would have been arguably Barkley’s worst of 2022.
Barkley has struggled to find success in two consecutive weeks for this Giants offense. In Week 11 against the Detroit Lions, Barkley rushed for 22 yards on 15 total carries.
Injuries to those around him have undoubtedly held Barkley back at this point in the season. With poor blocking, and a lack of playmakers around him, nearly all of the focus has fallen onto him. Barkley knows that if this Giants team hopes to find success in the future, he will need to play better.
Even with his struggles on the field in recent weeks, Barkley has still put together an elite season. He is second in the NFL with 992 rushing yards and has scored seven touchdowns on the ground. The Giants offense is still built around Barkley, and he can take this team as far as he can go himself. Once he gets back on track on the field, there is legitimate potential for this group to put up great numbers.
