2. S Julian Love

Following three mediocre seasons, fans were not all that happy at the beginning of the year when it was made clear that Julian Love would be staring opposite of Xavier McKinney.

While Love had always shown promise as a run defender and tackler, his ability in coverage was very questionable and no one knew how well he would play. Well, we’re 11 games into the Giants season and you can say that fans love their new starting safety.

In the course of an offseason, Love has really rounded out his game and has become one of the most solid safeties in the league, racking up 68 combined tackles, two interceptions, and two pass breakups. In addition to this, Love has allowed 24 receptions on 33 targets for 286 yards and two TDs. While his ability in coverage may still not be the best, it is certainly much better than it has been in prior seasons.

He certainly hasn’t been perfect, but Love has done everything the Giants have asked him to do and more. This includes a couple of big-time plays like his clutch interception against the Ravens in Week 6.

Considering the low expectations surrounding him this season, Love has done a fantastic job at safety and likely earned himself an extension at the end of the year. The newest captain of the NY Giants has certainly impressed when the team needed him the most.
