No one can argue that the NY Giants shot themselves in the foot several times in the Week 13 tie against the Washington Commanders. However, after further review of the action, it’s clear that the guys in stripes didn’t do Brian Daboll any favors in this one either.

On more than one occassion, the refs completely choked with some calls that should have gone the Giants way. The Commanders got lucky to leave MetLife Stadium with a tie. If things would have been called correctly, NY would be sitting at 8-4 on the year and not 7-4-1. Here’s a look at three calls in particular that the refs missed.

3. No defensive pass interference late on Darius Slayton

To start, we’re not going to take it easy on offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, whose play calling late in the second half was a disaster. However, there was one play in particular that had people up in arms: a defensive pass interference call that wasn’t called with a Commanders defensive back draped all over Darius Slayton.

On the play before, Slayton let a deep bomb from Daniel Jones fall to the turf. That was infuriating, but Kafka decided to go back to No. 86, with Jones letting the pigskin fly once again. Slayton barely had room to breathe here, as the Washington DB indeed was all over him. People were fully expecting a flag to be thrown, but that never happened.

Cornerback Danny Johnson didn’t look back until the last second to make a play on the ball. His hands were on top of Slayton when he was trying to reel that bad boy in. Come on, this is textbook pass interference, yet the refs didn’t see things that way. Slayton couldn’t believe it and neither could the NY supporters. This should have been a spot foul. Come on.
