2. Awful spot after a Richie James catch late in the first half

The end of the second quarter continues to have people fuming. With the Giants having a shot to score a touchdown with seconds left on the clock, Kafka decided to call a run play with Jones. You’re not alone if you fired up countless expletives at your TV screens in anger toward Kafka for the decision.

However, things could have been completely different for the Giants if the refs would have been competent enough to correctly spot the ball. That was too much to ask of them on Sunday, however. On a Richie James catch, just about everyone could see that the speedster was across the Washington 10. He was marked short, and the Giants then faced third down.

Not only that, but Daboll then had to use his third and final timeout of the half. Things only got worse when the Giants and Kafka decided to let Danny Dimes try and run for a score rather than take a shot at the end zone through the air. Kafka is getting ripped for that decision, but the refs didn’t do the NY offense any favors with that horrible, horrible spot.
