There are few things NY Giants head coach Brian Daboll has done wrong during his first, memorable year leading Big Blue. However, one of the biggest issues people have right now is the play-calling being done by new offensive coordinator Mike Kafka. The former Kansas City Chiefs assistant hasn’t lived up to the hype.
Kafka was expected to provide the NY offense with excitement, but time and time again we see Kafka being either too conservative, or he gets too cute with his calls. This was on full display vs. Washington in Week 13. From our chair, Daboll is making a big mistake in not taking charge. Here’s three reasons why:
3. Mike Kafka simply is not getting the job done for this team
You’re not alone if you’re getting sick and tired of seeing Kafka’s offense be stagnant each week. The past two weeks in particular have been terrible. Against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day, the G-Men actually had a 13-7 lead at the break. Then, Dallas dominated in the second half and the NY O didn’t do much.
NY lost 28-20, but let’s be real here, the only touchdown the G-Men scored in the second half came in garbage time. Other than that, Daniel Jones and Co. didn’t instill any kind of fear in the Dallas defense. More of the same was the case in Week 13 going up against the Washington Commanders.
The Giants led for the majority of the action, but the Giants were held to seven points in the second half – again. Though NY and Washington tied 20-20, this really felt like a loss at the end of the contest. The Giants let a win slip away and it still stings. Kafka’s terrible play-calling was a big reason NY wasn’t able to secure the victory.
