3. Darius Slayton’s crucial drop late in the fourth

Darius Slayton is by far the best wide receiver on the Giants current roster, but he continues to be plagued by untimely drops. After Washington tied the game at 20 late in the fourth quarter, Danny Dimes did what he does, and he threw an absolute dime deep down the field to Slayton, which was promptly dropped.

You simply can’t get more open than Slayton was on this play, and Danny Dimes could not have thrown him a better ball. That is simply a catch an NFL receiver has to make, especially one of Slayton’s caliber.

Had he caught the ball, the Giants would have been set up right outside of field goal range with around 90 seconds still to play. Instead the Giants went three and out. The Giants offense was   lucky that their defense stopped Washington to force overtime, or we would be having a very different conversation right now.
