2. Limit Miles Sanders for the Eagles

This is by far the most important aspect of this weekend’s game. The Eagles have the league’s fifth-best rushing attack, averaging 154.6 rushing yards per game. In contrast the Giants have the league’s seventh worst run-defense, giving up 141.1 yards per game. This game is a mismatch in the trenches, and the Giants will also likely be missing Leonard Williams, creating an even bigger challenge.

The Eagles currently roster four players who have over 100 yards on the season, Jalen Hurts, Miles Sanders, Kenneth Gainwell and the Giants killer Boston Scott. The Eagles three running backs are smaller, more explosive backs. Those kind of running backs are especially hard for defensive linemen to stop.

Dexter Lawrence has played like a First Team All-Pro this season, and PFF ranks him as the second best defensive lineman this season, slightly trailing behind Chris Jones. Lawrence has been so good this season PFF has him ranked one spot ahead of Aaron Donald. With Williams likely being sidelined this weekend, the Giants could sure use a Donald game-wrecker performance from Sexy Dexy.

The Giants need domination from Lawrence and the combination of Justin Ellis/Henry Mondeaux to fill in admirably for Williams on Sunday in order to have a chance. With the way Lawrence has been playing, it is certainly not impossible.
