Well, isn’t this something that’s downright intriguing? Ever since the final whistle from the NY Giants Sunday Night Football win over the Washington Commanders, people all over our nation’s capital have been ripping the G-Men, claiming the front office paid off the refs to help them come away with their 20-12 win.
In case you somehow missed it, the Commanders’ hopes of trying to tie the game late in the fourth quarter ended when Darnay Holmes deflected a pass intended for Curtis Samuel. There was clear pass interference, we won’t deny that.
However, not only did the refs miss an illegal hands to the face on Kayvon Thibodeaux on that play, but earlier in the action, they also didn’t see wideout Richie James literally getting tackled to the turf while running a route as well.
Refs in the NY Giants vs. Commanders game were awful
This wasn’t the only terrible display from the zebras on the night, as they were nothing short of terrible. The bad calls were missed on both sides of the ball, so it’s not like this was a one-sided showing of incompetence or anything.
For the Washington faithful, the loss just stings a little bit more for them because they felt like they were robbed of a chance to make things 20-20 in the final seconds. However, had Washington scored a touchdown on that Samuel play, they still would have had to convert on their two-point try.
That’s never a given. The fact that they were indeed robbed of such a chance is what has so many people infuriated. However, that clear pass interference against James is something that Giants fans can surely bring up whenever a Commanders fan, even Kevin Durant, tries to bring NY down.
With New York at 8-5-1, this team looks ready to lock in a postseason spot. Don’t expect anyone in Washington to root on the Giants once Wild Card Weekend arrives. They’re probably still going to be fuming.
