4 NY Giants who will join Tae Crowder in not returning next season
By Zak Musso
3. WR Richie James
Richie James has had an up and down 2022 season to say the least. James is currently second on the Giants in receiving, but that is not exactly an accomplishment. James has battled some minor injuries and has adequately filled in as Big Blue’s slot receiver in the absence of Wan’Dale Robinson and Shepard. James’ most memorable Giants moment is not a good one, as fans will never forget the two punt return fumbles against Seattle that cost the Giants the game.
Joe Schoen will likely completely rebuild the Giants wide receiving core in 2023. Robinson is a lock and Shepard will likely return, so it is unlikely the Giants would keep a third slot receiver on the roster.
Isaiah Hodgins will also return next season, and the Giants will likely draft one or two receivers, in addition to a couple free agent signings. All of that likely leaves no room for James to return in 2023. He’s just not a reliable option for Jones. His terrible drop on a key third down vs. the Vikings was unacceptable.
