This Cardinals-NY Giants trade pitch for DeAndre Hopkins will never happen
The trade rumors surrounding DeAndre Hopkins have swirled over the last few days, as news dropped that the Arizona Cardinals will be looking to trade him this offseason. When healthy, Hopkins is without question one of the best wide receivers in the game and he’d be a great addition for a team.
How about the NY Giants? From our chair, the Giants should look at other trade candidates, as Hopkins is set to turn 31 years old in early June. Noit only that, but his production has dropped over the past two seasons.
Despite that, there’s been a trade pitch from PHNX Sports making the rounds on social media that would send four NY draft picks to the Cardinals for Hopkins. Yeah, not a chance.

NY Giants trade for DeAndre Hopkins can’t happen this offseason
On which planet would general manager Joe Schoen even think about sending so much draft capital to the NFC West side? The fact that this includes a first-round pick and a second-round pick is sure to make you laugh. Don’t get us wrong, Hopkins is a great talent and he could surely make a huge impact for the Giants offense.
However, he’s not in his early-mid 20s anymore. You can’t give up that kind of a trade package unless you see someone making plays for you for the long haul. Hopkins isn’t the guy. There’s sure to be plenty of other options available this offseason, for a cheaper price tag too.
Wideouts of intrigue include Brandon Aiyuk, Tee Higgins, Diontae Johnson and others. In free agency, we even like the idea of Allen Lazard making his way over from the Packers. Once the draft rolls around too, there’s a lot of young talent for Schoen and Co. to look at, including USC’s Jordan Addison.
Hopkins is a playmaker, but there’s too high of a risk in going out and trading for him. Let’s hope Schoen makes yet another brilliant decision from East Rutherford and stays away. And if he does make a trade offer, it certainly won’t be like the comical one that’s been pitched above.
