4 NY Giants who saved the day and led Big Blue over Minnesota

Led by Daniel Jones, the New York Giants are moving on to the NFC Divisional Round. In the Wild Card Round, the Giants took down Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings by a final score of 31-24. What a win for Big Blue.

On offense, this team delivered maybe their best game of the season. This was just their second time scoring 30 or more points this campaign. On defense, they managed to contain one of the NFL’s most explosive players in wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

Just three weeks after falling to the Vikings, the Giants were able to win when it mattered most. In a game that came down to which team would get the final stop, New York came out on top. But, not without several major contributions on both sides of the ball. Here’s four players who saved the day for the Giants.

4. WR Isaiah Hodgins

Since joining the Giants earlier in the season, wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins has become a key contributor for the offense. In this Wild Card matchup, the young wideout would not be stopped by the Minnesota defense.

Hodgins finished the day leading the Giants in every receiving category. He recorded eight receptions for 105 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown on nine total targets.

Along with reaching the end zone, Hodgins was consistently where he needed to be on the field. Next to Hodgins, Darius Slayton also put together a strong showing. He finished the day with four receptions for 88 receiving yards on eight total targets. But a major drop in crunch time led to Hodgins being the standout of the group.

Even with Slayton on the field, Jones looked to Hodgins early and often. His reliability on this side of the ball has quickly made him a go-to target through the air.

If the Giants hope to keep their playoff run alive, Hodgins will need to continue to put together performances like this. Based on what he has shown so far, he could be the hidden gem of this team.
