Did Eagles get away with a ‘pick play’ on opening touchdown vs. Giants?

The Philadelphia Eagles just drove right down the field against the NY Giants on the first drive of the night, but there’s surely some controversy early on. Philly tight end Dallas Goedert made an unreal one-handed grab and made his way to the end zone, but plenty of Big Blue supporters are convinced a penalty flag should have been thrown.

On that touchdown, wide receiver Zach Pascal wasn’t even looking for the ball from Jalen Hurts, and was able to get out of the way at the last second. However, Giants defensive back Xavier McKinney took a tumble and flew to the turf, opening the door for Goedert to burst up the field. No laundry was thrown. Touchdown Eagles.

Giants fans are not happy with the Dallas Goedert touchdown early on

Again, it looked like Pascal was able to avoid contact with McKinney, but a lot of people out there think he had a negative impact on the NY safety trying to follow the Eagles tight end.

On one side of things, a lot of Giants fans are furious with no call being made, while other NY supporters agree that Pascal didn’t do anything wrong. We’ll let you make the call here.

Regardless of that, Philly was able to land the first punch in the Divisional Round showdown and while the Giants were able to move the ball on their opening drive to start, they weren’t able to get on the scoreboard. Instead, they turned the ball over on downs when a fourth-down try in Philly territory couldn’t have gone worse.

In order for the Giants to keep this contest close, they’re going to have to make some stops on defense and push the ball downfield. Thus far early on in the first half, that hasn’t been the case for NY.
