2: Seahawks assistant head coach Sean Desai

Sean Desai is a coordinator that has been receiving a lot of attention so far, receiving interview requests from both the Dolphins and Vikings already and will likely have more teams looking to potentially hire him.

Desai worked under Vic Fangio with the Bears in 2015, which is where he learned a ton, including Fangio’s 3-4 defense which is rather similar to what the Giants currently run. So, he could already be a great fit with the team if Martindale decides to leave and they bring Desai in.

Another interesting thing about Desai is that he was the first defensive coordinator of Indian descent in NFL history, a remarkable milestone in an ever-so-growing sport. He was the defensive coordinator for one year with the Bears, but once Matt Nagy got fired, Chicago didn’t bring Desai back.

Now in an offseason with several head coaching turnovers, it seems like there is a very good chance that Desai ends up as a defensive coordinator once again. If Martindale decides to become a head coach elsewhere, the Giants should do what they can to bring in Desai – he would be a great option and already fits the defensive personnel quite well.
