We are a little more than three months away from the 2023 NFL Draft and the first round can’t get here any sooner for the NY Giants. After making the postseason this winter, general manager Joe Schoen has a ton of work to do ahead of next fall. Whether it be free agency or the draft, some help is needed for Daniel Jones.

Straight up, the Giants and Schoen need to make a serious upgrade at wide receiver and some young talent is needed. That’s why so many different mock drafts have the Giants going with either Jordan Addison or Jaxon Smith-Njigba. However, there’s a new name to keep an eye on: SMU’s Rashee Rice.

SMU wideout Rashee Rice would be a great addition for the NY Giants

In their latest mock draft, The 33rd team has the G-Men going with Rice, who has shot up draft boards this winter. Checking in at 6-2, 203 pounds, Rice had a monster year in 2022, posting 96 receptions for 1,355 yards and 10 touchdowns. Those stats are impressive and his size is pretty darn impressive as well.

"“Credit to Brian Daboll and his staff for piecing together production at the receiver position this season, but they need to add more consistent playmaking ability on the outside,” The 33rd team wrote. “Rice has the ability to stretch the field as well as pick up chunk plays after the catch. He would immediately be an upgrade in the Giants’ receiver room.”"

With all the injuries this past campaign for the Giants, the main WR unit consisted of Isaiah Hodgins, Darius Slayton and Richie James. Kenny Golladay is surely on his way out, and it’s up in the air if the team will bring back Sherling Shepard or not. The good news is that Wan’Dale Robinson will be back from his injury, but this team still needs someone to open up the field.

Enter Rice? If Addison or Smith-Njigba are still on the board, then Giants fans will obviously be pushing for Schoen to go with one of them, as they’re bigger names. However, Rice has impressive film and he could prove to be a playmaker at the next level too. He’ll certainly be a guy to watch come late April.
