The New York Jets somehow find a way to infuriate their fans more and more. Meanwhile for the NY Giants, things are going smoothly, as head man Brian Daboll is in the Coach of the Year hunt and general manager Joe Schoen keeps making brilliant moves.
As for Big Blue’s cross-town rivals, Gang Green is up to its old tricks. On Thursday morning, it was announced that the Jets hired former Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett as its new offensive coordinator.
Seriously, this is who they’re rocking with to try and get the offense to no longer be a disaster? Not a strong plan.
NY Jets hiring Nathaniel Hackett as OC has people in town furious
There’s no question that Hackett has a ton of coaching experience, but no one has forgotten about his nightmare time leading the Denver Broncos this past campaign. Hackett didn’t even last a full season as head coach of Denver, as he was fired by the AFC West organization after he led the team to a disastrous 4-11 start.
With the team trading for Russell Wilson, everyone expected Hackett to help get Wilson and the Denver offense to an elite level. Instead, Wilson had easily his worst year in the NFL and people in Seattle were thanking the Football Gods that they received such a big haul for the former Super Bowl-winning quarterback.
Hackett is best known for his time with the Jaguars and Packers, serving as offensive coordinator for them. He helped Jacksonville get to the AFC Championship Game against the Patriots, but Jaguars supporters haven’t stopped bashing his play-calling from that game.
Then in Green Bay, Hackett developed strong chemistry with Aaron Rodgers, which is why the AR12 rumors to East Rutherford are starting to fly. Regardless of if that happens or not, Hackett packing his bags for New Jersey has people furious and we don’t blame them. As for Big Blue nation, sit back and relax knowing that the Giants are in good hands – the Jets most definitely aren’t.
