There’s a lot of concern for NY Giants fans when it comes to the staff of head man Brian Daboll. Last week, it was reported that defensive coordinator Wink Martindale was considered one of the frontrunners to land the Indianapolis Colts job.

Now, some big news has arrived for offensive coordinator Mike Kafka. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Kafka has been informed that he’s among the finalists to take over as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.

With this, the chances of Kafka being one and done with Daboll in East Rutherford have increased and we don’t like this news one bit.

Mike Kafka is a finalist for the Arizona Cardinals head coaching job

Kafka has already interviewed with the Cardinals and he appears to have done a solid job in impressing the AZ front office. We’ve seen what Kafka has been able to do with both the Chiefs and Giants, which is why the Cardinals could be inclined to give him a shot to help get Kyler Murray’s career back on track.

As we’ve said before, Kafka sure had his ups and downs in his first season as offensive coordinator with the G-Men, but he surely played a big role in helping Daniel Jones take a much needed step forward.

The thought of both Martindale and Kafka leaving for other jobs is definitely concerning, but it also speaks to the fantastic job Daboll does in identifying top coaching talent. He’s surely thinking about possible replacements for those two if they do end up being offered new gigs and accepting them.

After going 4-13 in 2021, the Giants bounced back in a big way in 2022, going 9-7-1 during the regular season and taking down the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card Round. Martindale and Kafka helped bring some much joy to Big Blue nation this past campaign, but it’s now completely unknown if both will be returning next fall.
