Kadarius Toney doesn’t have beef with the Giants despite controversial time in NY
In addition to the NY Giants fan base hoping that the Philadelphia Eagles don’t bring home another Super Bowl title, a lot of people are also going to have their eyes on one Kansas City Chiefs player in particular: Kadarius Toney. A former first-rounder of the G-Men in 2021, Toney was traded to KC early on this season for a pair of draft picks.
We don’t have to tell you that Toney’s time with Big Blue was a total disappointment. He had all the potential, but injuries and plenty of drama prevented him from reaching star status with the Giants from the moment former general manager Dave Gettleman brought him to town.
Now, Toney is focused on the future and he wants to help the Chiefs win it all on Sunday vs. Philly. When asked about being traded by the Giants and his time in East Rutherford, Toney didn’t take any jabs at his former team. Instead, he’s ready to put the past behind him.
Kadarius Toney still keeps in touch with some of his former NY Giants teammates
"“At the end of the day it wasn’t my decision,’’ Toney said on his trade to KC via the New York Post’s Paul Schwartz. “I’m in a position where I’m just grateful to be here. God’s got a plan and I just stick to it, regardless. I don’t have any comments about the trade, it is what it is. I don’t run the business side, I just play.’’"
Toney added that while he does keep in contact with former teammates, he’s not communicating with members of the front office or coaches over in New Jersey, which isn’t shocking at all. Time and time again, people were hoping Toney would be able to deliver for the Giants offense, but he just couldn’t keep himself on the field.
The injuries were quite frustrating to see, and more of the same has been featured with him donning a Chiefs uniform. Toney has been battling hamstring issues and now he’s working his way back from a sprained ankle in the AFC Championship Game vs. the Bengals.
The second-year wideout expects to play against the Eagles, but his bum ankle will be something to watch. Things just didn’t work out for Toney with the Giants, but a fresh start in Kansas City has helped him out.
Plenty of NY supporters remain unhappy with the speedster, but come Sunday, those same folks likely wouldn’t mind seeing him post a nice game if it means helping the Chiefs prevent the Eagles from taking home the Lombardi Trophy.
