2. Keenan Allen

Keenan Allen has been one of the more consistently underrated wide receivers in the NFL over his career. However, the Los Angeles Chargers are expected to part ways with the former California Golden Bears wide receiver due to the money they could save if they cut him.

Allen amassed 66 receptions for 752 receiving yards and four touchdowns last season, down from his usual production due to a slew of injuries. While some may call it an outlier, with Allen on the wrong-side of 30, it’s usually more of a sign of things to come.

The Chargers were starved for wide receiving talent in Allen’s absence, similar to the Giants, though not as bad. Still, they’re going to move on from their long-time receiver, and the Giants shouldn’t sniff the idea. Think back to the Golden Tate deal. Signing Allen would wreak of similarities, and it’s the opposite direction Big Blue needs to move in.

It’s unfortunate that Allen will hit the open market at age 30 and coming off injuries, but that’s how it works for skill players at the NFL level at times. The Giants need to look at younger players with brighter futures, not those with their best days in the past.
