NY Giants Mock Draft Round 5: Texas RB Roschon Johnson

We’re keeping our fingers crossed in this case that running back Roschon Johnson falls to the fifth round. Widely considered a potential Day 2 pick, Johnson broke a bone in his hand at the Senior Bowl and that could have some scouts and general managers a bit worried about his status moving forward.

However, Johnson would be a much more well known player if he didn’t play behind star running back Bijan Robinson, who will surely hear his name called pretty dang early in the draft. What really makes Johnson stand out is his impressive size for a RB, as he checks in at 6-2, 223 pounds. That’s quality right there.

This past season for the Longhorns, Johnson ran the ball 93 times for 554 yards and five touchdowns. For those of you keeping track at home, that was a six-yard per carry average for the big-bodied back. We think Mike Kafka, if he doesn’t take the Cardinals job, would surely find a way to get him the ball behind Saquon Barkley on Sundays. Let’s go with him with the No. 162 overall pick.
