So many NY Giants players were over the moon in happiness when it was announced that NY Giants head man Brian Daboll was named AP Coach of the Year. No one can argue he deserved this, as Daboll took over a 4-13 team from 2021 and turned them into a 9-7-1 squad during the regular season, booking a trip to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

With Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka in town, they also helped Saquon Barkley turn his career around, as No. 26 finished with more than 1,300 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in 2022 – remember that he rushed for two TDs in the Wild Card win over Minnesota.

Barkley was on hand at the 12th annual NFL Honors, hoping to win Comeback Player of the Year. While Saquon didn’t get the news he was hoping for, he was jacked up when Daboll’s name was announced by Deion Sanders. This clip of the two embracing is sure to make you smile.

NY Giants fans are incredibly happy for head coach Brian Daboll

The kiss from Mrs. Daboll, the handshake with Saquon, the hug, the point at Stefon Diggs: it’s all too perfect. Barkley had a huge smile on his face too, which was so awesome to see. You can tell just how much love and respect Barkley has for his coach, which is why he was so happy for Daboll on Thursday night.

A lot of people were pushing for Doug Pederson or Kyle Shanahan to be named Coach of the Year, but that didn’t happen and Daboll deservedly took home the honor. Fans and Giants players rushed to Twitter to congratulate him too.

As for Barkley, everyone is now waiting to see if he and general manager Joe Schoen can agree to terms on a new contract. No one wants to see Barkley leave NY and suit up for a different team next season. Daboll surely wants his offensive playmaker back as well. These two are close and we can only hope their days of bringing Giants fans joy on the field aren’t over.
