2. OL Nick Gates

Following one of the most gruesome injuries the NFL has ever seen, Nick Gates managed to fight his way back into the rotation just a little over a year after breaking his leg. This was an incredible comeback for so many reasons. Not only is Gates an incredible leader, but he has been a consistent player for this team.

Many people thought Gates would never play again, with himself saying that he wasn’t even sure if he would be able to keep his leg or not. However, through all the pain and rehab, Gates made his debut in Week 6 against the Seahawks and put together a very solid campaign. His versatility also stands out.

Gates certainly wasn’t perfect, but considering what he was coming back from, he did a good enough job to warrant being brought back next season. Not only will it be cheap to retain him, but he is only going to get better as he recovers from his injury.

In 368 offensive snaps, Gates registered a pass-blocking grade of 69.3, and a run-blocking grade of 59.0 while allowing one sack and 10 pressures. Again, not perfect, but it’s only going to get better for Gates.
