NY Giants Round 5 pick: Jonathan Mingo WR Ole Miss

With the addition of Addison, the Giants have already addressed the wide receiver room. But for a team in search of depth at the position, taking another pass-catcher is something they should do. Ole Miss wide receiver Jonathan Mingo could be an intriguing option for the team.

At 6-2 and 215 pounds, Mingo could be the big target that this offense has been in search of. Along with his size, he also brings speed that leads him to be a vertical threat.

During his time at Ole Miss, Mingo was inconsistent with his play. Over his first three seasons, he never surpassed 380 receiving yards. This past season, Mingo managed to find his footing and his numbers reflected this. In total, he recorded 51 receptions for 861 receiving yards and six total touchdowns while playing in 13 total games.

Mingo was a standout at the Senior Bowl, which could ultimately lead to him rising up draft boards. But if he is available in the fifth round, he should be the easy selection for this Giants offense. A wide receiver room of Addison, Mingo, Wan’Dale Robinson and Isaiah Hodgins could be a solid core. Sterling Shepard could be on his way back too.
