If this doesn’t make Daniel Jones come to his senses a bit, we don’t know what will. While the NY Giants would obviously love to keep him around for the long haul, Danny Dimes is reportedly eyeing around $45 million a season with his next deal. Because of this, you better believe the G-Men are looking at a potential Plan B or two.

According to The Draft Network’s Ryan Fowler, the Giants are among a handful of teams who have  met extensively with signal-caller Hendon Hooker. Hooker was projected to be a first-round pick before he unfortunately tore his ACL in November.

Despite that injury, could NY have serious interest in potentially bringing him to East Rutherford? It looks like general manager Joe Schoen is intrigued in his abilities.

NY Giants talking extensively with Hendon Hooker is something to monitor

Before going down with his serious knee injury, Hooker was a man on a mission for the Tennessee Volunteers. Despite nothing being able to close out the campaign, he tossed for 3,135 yards, 27 touchdowns and only two interceptions. His 89.5 QBR was tops in the country, while his low INT number was tied for No. 2 in the nation.

Make no mistake about it, if Hooker didn’t tear his ACL, he’d be getting a lot more NFL Draft attention right now. Despite that, it’s not going top be a surprise to hear his name early on during draft weekend. The Giants like his skills, as do the Raiders, Saints, Panthers and others.

Meanwhile for Jones, he has infuriated a lot of Giants suppporters with the reported number that he’s looking for. To make things even more complicated, if Big Blue and Jones can’t agree to terms on a long-term deal, they could end up franchise tagging him.

With that, Jones would earn $32.4 million next season, but it would also result in a cap hit of the same number. That’s not ideal. Schoen and Co. must have a back-up plan in place, and it looks like Hooker has caught the front office’s attention.
