Predicting 5 big NY Giants moves after giving Daniel Jones his mega-deal

At the buzzer, the NY Giants and quarterback Daniel Jones were able to agree to a monster four-year, $160 million deal ahead of the franchise tag deadline. While that’s an eye-opening amount, the full details of Jones’ contract were revealed and it feels like a major win for Schoen and the rest of the front office.

There’s one big move checked off for the Big Blue GM, but we don’t have to tell you that the hard work has only just begun. In this piece, we take a look at five moves the Giants can potentially make in the coming weeks and months. Good things are indeed on the way for the G-Men:

5. Sign Saquon Barkley to a multi-year deal

In addition to making things happen with Jones on Tuesday, the Giants also made headlines by placing the non-exclusive franchise tag on running back Saquon Barkley. With this, Barkley is set to make $10.1 next season, unless a team pulls a shocking move and negotiates a deal with No. 26, and then sends NY two first-round picks.

However, just because the tag was placed on Barkley, that doesn’t mean he’s not going to get a new contract this offseason as well. The Giants are still going to negotiate with the Pro Bowl running back and several insiders believe that something will get done here sooner than later, which would be great.

Barkley is coming off one of the best seasons in his career. According to Mike Garafolo, the Giants are ready to offer Barkley around $13 million a season in his next deal. However, Garafolo is also reporting that Barkley is eyeing Christian McCaffrey type money, which would be at least $15 million.

The two will need to work something out, but for cap space, getting a Barkley contract finalized would also be big for Schoen.
