With the 2023 NFL Combine wrapping up not too long ago, we have gotten a deeper look at some of the more intriguing prospects for the NY Giants. The Giants are set to pick No. 25 overall in the first round, meaning they will only have a marginal shot to land some of the top prospects of this year’s draft. Regardless, there are still some phenomenal talents that could be available to New York when they’re on the clock.

In our list, all five of these players had phenomenal Combine performances and definitely caught the eye of not only the fans, but front offices as well. Who knows if these guys will be available to the Giants in the late first round, but if they are, Joe Schoen should not hesitate to select them:

5. Penn State CB Joey Porter Jr.

While Joey Porter Jr. is one of the top cornerbacks in this year’s draft, there were questions surrounding how his athleticism would impact his odds of success in the NFL. However, after an incredibly solid showcasing at the Combine, those questions were put to rest and it seems like Porter could be one of, if not the most NFL-ready corners in the entire draft.

Porter ran a 4.46 40-yard dash, displayed a solid 35-inch vertical, had the second most reps on the bench press, and had a 10’9 broad jump. These numbers may not be mind blowing, but they put most of the silly doubts away surrounding his athleticism.

During his last season at Penn State, Porter allowed just 15 receptions on 30 targets for 143 yards and four touchdowns, breaking up nine passes in the process. While he isn’t a superstar against the run, his abilities in man coverage would fit perfectly with the Giants.

The Giants lack of depth at corner last season was incredibly apparent following Adoree’ Jackson’s knee injury, so it wouldn’t be surprising at all if we see Schoen opt to take a corner with New York’s first-round choice. Porter could be a solid get.
