NY Giants re-signing Sterling Shepard is 100 percent the right move
He’s coming back! With how much Sterling Shepard has meant to the NY Giants over the years, no one wanted to see his days with Big Blue end due to a torn ACL suffered during the 2022 season. Thankfully, it doesn’t look like Shepard being carted off the field at MetLife Stadium will be our last memory of him with the organization with the pads on.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Giants are expected to re-sign Shep to a new deal. Despite suffering season-ending injuries in back-to-back years, the speedster is motivated to make a big-time difference for the G-Men in 2023. This is big news for Daniel Jones as well.
The NY Giants are expected to re-sign WR Sterling Shepard
This is a move that countless NY supporters have been hoping to see from general manager Joe Schoen. Despite his injury history, Shepard has proven to be a reliable target when on the field. He kicked off the 2022 season with a bang last September, hauling in a 65-yard touchdown from Daniel Jones in the upset win over the Titans.
In the Monday Night Football loss to the Cowboys, though, countless hearts broke when Shepard went down with his serious knee injury. Despite being lost for the year, a passionate Shepard was seen on the sidelines being arguably the biggest cheerleader out there for his teammates the rest of the way.
A lot of folks indeed thought his time with the squad would come to a close, but Schoen isn’t going to let Shepard go anywhere. Some serious upgrades are needed at WR and there’s still plenty of work to be done this offseason to help out Brian Daboll’s offense.
However, bringing back a veteran leader like Shepard feels like the right call for Schoen and Co. Now, let’s keep our fingers crossed Shepard can be fully healthy moving forward.
