Boom! This has to be the reaction for NY Giants fans out there, as some inside linebacker help is on the way starting next September. There’s no denying that general manager Joe Schoen needed to make a splash at the position, and he’s done just that on the first day of free agency.

According to insider Jordan Schultz, the Giants have agreed to terms on a four-year deal with inside ‘backer Bobby Okereke, 26 years old, who is coming off a sensational 2022 with the Indianapolis Colts. Per Schultz, the deal is worth $40 million, with $22 million guaranteed.

Earlier in the day, Big Blue fans were a bit disappointed when they had found out that T.J. Edwards and Tremaine Edmunds had both agreed to new contracts with the Chicago Bears. Alex Anzalone staying with the Detroit Lions also stung quite a bit.

However, all is now forgotten with Okereke in the mix for Big Blue. As we mentioned above, the 6-1, 235-pound Okereke was a stud for the Colts in ’22, as he finished the campaign with 151 total tackles, five pass deflections and two forced fumbles.

In addition to wide receiver and the interior offensive line, we don’t have to tell you that LB was going to be a major focus for NY this offseason. For Schoen, he needed to make a splash to help people forget about the terrible play from Tae Crowder and Jaylon Smith last fall and winter. They were both rough to watch throughout last campaign.

Schoen has done that and more by landing a player of Okereke’s caliber. This is an offseason decision that G-Men fans are going to be celebrating for quite some time. You already know Brian Daboll and Wink Martindale are happy right now as well.
