LB Bobby Okereke has NY Giants fans fired up with his latest tweet
There’s a new favorite linebacker in the New York area, and we don’t have to tell you that he doesn’t play for the Jets. Nope, we’re talking about NY Giants inside ‘backer Bobby Okereke, who agreed to a four-year, $40 million deal with the G-Men during the first day of the legal tampering period.
Now, Okereke is ready to be an absolute stud in the middle of the field for defensive coordinator Wink Martindale and head man Brian Daboll. As you might have been able to guess, the 6-1, 235-pounder couldn’t be more excited about making the move from Indianapolis to the Big Apple.
LB Bobby Okereke can’t wait to make plays for the NY Giants
We don’t have the heart to tell Okereke he’s going to need to get familiar with the Holland Tunnel/Lincoln Tunnel to get to Manhattan from New Jersey, but hey, this is something he’ll learn on his own over time. Regardless of that, Okereke has people all over NJ and the five boroughs across the river pumped up about his future with the squad.
When was the last time the Giants featured a linebacker of this caliber? It’s been a while. Say goodbye to Jaylon Smith and Tae Crowder, and hello to a standout LB who was born to make stops. Last season with the Colts, Okereke was a monster, posting 151 tackles, two sacks and five pass deflections.
This is exactly the kind of splash addition people were hoping to see from general manager Joe Schoen. Earlier on Monday, people were a bit down in the dumps when they saw T.J. Edwards and Tremaine Edmunds both agree to contracts with the Chicago Bears.
Then the Okereke news dropped and celebrations are still going on. The newest Giant is only 26 and his best football is ahead of him. This was a sensational decision from Schoen and the rest of the Big Blue front office.
