4. Trading up to draft CB DeAndre Baker

After selecting Jones and Lawrence in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Gettleman traded back into the first round to make a third first-round selection. Gettleman selected DeAndre Baker, a highly touted cornerback out of Georgia.

Gettleman traded away a second-rounder, fourth-rounder, and fifth-rounder to move up to get the corner, who had significant character concerns. Baker had a horrible rookie season in which teammates ripped him for bad work ethic, and he received a 48.4 grade by PFF. In the following offseason, Baker was arrested for an alleged role in a Florida armed robbery.

The charges against Baker were dropped, but the Giants released him. Baker and Kadarius Toney were two first-round draft choices made by Gettleman, but neither made it through 20 months with the Giants. That is unfathomably bad.
