Another primetime game, another primetime loss for the NY Giants, as they were unable to take down the Bengals in what was a crucial game for both teams. A win for New York would have set them up with huge amounts of momentum heading into the halfway point of the season, while a loss for the Bengals would have ended their campaign early.
Unfortunately for the Giants, their season is looking just as bad as it did two weeks ago. This was an incredibly winnable game, yet, for reasons we will get into, they were not able to pull through. In this game, three players stood out in the worst way possible, playing a big role in the Giants' loss, while two did all they could to keep the game close. As we all know, though, the poor play of our three losers from this game overcame that of our winners.
Here are the 3 biggest NY Giants losers (and 2 winners) from Week 6 letdown in primetime
Loser: OT Andrew Thomas
We're going to take it easy on Andrew Thomas, as he was still good for the Giants in this game and remains their cornerstone offensive tackle. However, this was arguably his worst game of the season, and it might be his last game in 2024 - he may need to undergo season-ending surgery.
Not only did Thomas allow two sacks, under the context that he was playing injured for most of the game, but he had a crucial penalty that took away a lot of momentum from the Giants. Late in the second quarter, Daniel Jones would connect with Darius Slayton for a 56-yard completion. However, an ineligible man downfield penalty erased that play, and the Giants would go three-and-out.
