There's a new era underway for the New York Giants, led by head coach John Harbaugh and a group of young stars. But while players like Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers, and Cam Skattebo take the spotlight, other veterans will inevitably fade into the background.
The Giants have made multiple additions this offseason, potentially pushing a few former contributors away from relevance.
We've listed a few veterans poised to regress in 2025.
3 Giants regression candidates entering 2026 season
RB Devin Singletary
Despite entering the year as the team's third running back, Singletary earned over 100 rushing attempts in 2025. His efficiency took a dip, though, as he averaged just 3.7 yards per carry. Most of his work came as a result of Skattebo's season-ending injury. Still, the veteran back has totaled almost 900 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground over his last two seasons in New York.
His run may be coming to an end in 2026. If Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy Jr. are both healthy, Singletary will take a backseat. Eric Gray could even pass the veteran up, pushing him further down the depth chart.
Singletary took a significant pay cut this offseason, and it's likely his last year with the team.
WR Darius Slayton
Slayton's contract is widely regarded as one of the worst in the league, but he's still managed to hold down a starting role in New York. The 29-year-old has surpassed 500 receiving yards in each of the last four seasons. If Nabers isn't healthy by Week 1, he'll be the team's de facto No. 1.
But the Giants have made multiple additions to their receiver group this offseason. If Slayton can't perform at a high level, players like Malachi Fields, Darnell Mooney, and JuJu Smith-Schuster could quickly pass him on the depth chart.
Slayton still has two years left on his contract, but he hasn't lived up to his paycheck so far. The Giants might not have much patience left.
RT Jermaine Eluemenor
Eluemenor was a solid starter at right tackle last season, and the Giants brought him back on a three-year contract. He'll hold onto his starting role this season, but he might take a step back after a career year in 2025.
He's entering a new system that often puts plenty of responsibility on its tackles in pass protection. If he can't hold up, the Giants might move rookie Francis Mauigoa to tackle earlier than expected.
